In movies, why so many naked women yet so few naked men?

There is so much porn on the internet, no one is paying to see a movie because of nudity.

I disagree on this and think they are quite nice but rarely shown in mainstream non porn movies. It would be interesting to have a total number of times this has ever happened. I imagine it's a low number.

Men are ugly.

Clearly you've never watched all of the Jackass movies.

Patrick Schwartenager is naked in White Lotus! Penis and all.

I always thought it was because men compare size and don't want their women partners to realize they don't measure up.

Meh, there's terabytes of free porn out there. You can find anything you want with foot long pythons out there.

Who wants to see schlong tho? It's not like they show tons of bush and boxes a lot either. If you want porn, watch porn. Boobs are just the same as a shiress man. Who cares about boobs?

There's generally been a move away from gratuitous nudity all together in Hollywood. In the internet age, no one is going to the cinema or watching a tv show to see a naked body. 9 1/2 Weeks is not getting made today. And actresses have been much more vocal about rejecting unnecessary nudity. It very rarely moves the story along. As for filming men, an aroused man gets you an X rating, which no one wants. And almost no one wants to see unaroused male bits. It's not aesthetically interesting and it's not necessary to move a story forward.

There is a long-held theory about it in cinema studies. The male gaze. Directors, writers, producers, editors, all men. I believe Jane Campion filmed Harvey Keitel in frontal nudity in The Piano as she is one of the few women to direct a love story. In general, we see the viewpoint and thoughts of straight male creators.

This isn’t why. I mean, that’s just silly and your opinion. It’s because men control the means of production in Hollywood. Even when there’s a female director (The Substance), it has to be greenlit, usually by a man.

It’s not silly and it’s a widely held opinion. People don’t want to see men naked.

Oh, I beg to differ. Many, many people would like to see men naked. Especially movie stars.

Of course it's because men control Hollywood. Do you HONESTLY think there would be just as many tits if you replaced every male Hollywood exec, director, producer and writer with women?

It's sad the number of women responding that nobody wants to see male genitalia. Absolutely not true! Plenty of women like to see it and plenty of men do also.

It's amazing how many people think everyone else thinks like them.

There are plenty of female directors objectifying other women. The writer/director of The Substance is a woman.

There are lots of naked men lately, many apparently with prosthetic genitalia.

Most directors and producers (with access to funding/powerful movie houses) are men. That’s why. The end.
