Has anyone identified a blog that shares information about peoples experiences with applying to different schools? We have not found one. Anything?

Too true - at least for SOME of your kids. Fortunately, they can try to apply as transfer students.

The best site I've found for student (and parent) experiences with the admissions process is collegeconfidential.com, although a new site (admissions.com) claims they will soon be launching a bigger version.
For blogs on the proces (rather than discussion format) www.usearch.com or www.notjustadmissions.com

The above suggested links are owned and controlled by college admissions drones. They are not worth the bytes they take up. Blogging is the new way to market our kids who are seeking information about colleges they are interested in. The blogs are filled with twisted "facts" making the schools attractive to our kids. They seem to be written by kids for kids. There is not substitue for visiting schools and doing your own research. We as parents guiding our kids need to make sure our individual 18 year olds are being launched in cultures and that will enhance growth and enable them to function on their own. We all know what the colleges want. The best numbers they can get and improvement in the rankings. Each applicant has diffent styles. Make sure you visit the school your child is interested in, avoid all blogs, and make sure the school meets the educational and social and cultural needs of your child as they go through one of the biggest growth periods in their lives.
