I went to HM and my son goes to one of the schools mentioned. If you think they don’t speak this way as teenagers then you’re delusional. They don’t want to be around Stuy kids and have contempt for them. This carries onto the college, they will not be in the same fraternities or go to the same vacation spots. |

When we interviewed at Speyer they touted the number of kids they get into Stuy; the K-8’s certainly seem to view them as equivalent.
(We also had an interview at another pretty well-known private where when we asked about accelerated math they actually admitted our kid would be better off at Bronx Science) |
I went to a TT private in another city, but my Harvard blocking group had one girl from Stuy and one from HM and they got along fine; in general the group was half private and half public and nobody had a particular attitude about it. There definitely were a few fancy private school kids who only hung out with other fancy people at final clubs or whatever but even most of the private school kids wouldn’t have been welcome with those guys. |
They do not at Buckley or St Bs. Speyer is sort of a joke in TT circles. |
That final club attitude you described is the norm at TT privates among full pay. They all know each other or are one degree away, go to the East End, Palm Beach in winter, nothing in common with Stuy in this regard. |
You are moving the goal posts. You initiated this ridiculous discussion by saying that SHSAT schools are not a good outcome. That is absolutely ridiculous. Now you are backtracking. And again, I highly doubt you went to HM. I know tons of HM people and even in a private forum they would never say something like that. You can think your school is "better" than other schools without bad mouthing those schools, particularly recognizing that for most people, TT privates are not even an option. If you went to HM, then you are really embarrassing HM. Because your initial posts were childish, nasty and rude and your inability to construct a consistent, logical argument is below what HM teaches (though there are plenty of morons who graduated from HM). Your complete lack of decency and self-awareness is pathetic. |
Well who the hell would want their kid to go to a school dominated by those people? Even if I had Hamptons money I’d rather my children grow up around normal human beings; if they have contempt for Stuy kids I expect Stuy kids have just as much contempt for them. |
Stuy kids have resentment, it’s different from contempt. They know they’re not up to HM snuff. |
Yeah, this is the post that finally convinced me you have no affiliation with either school and are just here to needle people. |
Well fussy little all-boys schools with their uniforms and “we love our school” songs are sort of a joke in mine, so |
Ignore the pathetic troll. Let's move on. Don't give the baby their bottle - they want attention. |
Stuy is known for being better at STEM compared to TT private school. In addition, it is more difficult to get into a top college coming from a TT private school. NYC has a way of humbling people due to the competitive nature of fighting for limited resources. |
| Why have you guys decided to highjack this thread?! I swear there should be a “I’ll argue anyone for free” subthread on these forums. |
Yes but students at those all boys schools don’t care what some poors at Booker think. That’s the point. Yet posters here are very interested in the thoughts of a 40-something HM alum |
It is more difficult to get into a top college from a TT private because they don’t grade inflate and your peers are smarter so worse curve. Lots of dolts at Stuy being carted off to SUNY Whatever |
