that was my dd last year. 3.9 something/4.8 something. 12 APs. Rejected.

I attended a college consultant presentation a few weeks ago at our high school. That college consultant came out and said he saw a lot of W schools, high stat rejections last year because of yield protection, He said the same profile of kid from a school like Watkins Mill would easily get in.

There's really no value in saying "10 APs" or "8 APs" without the grades for those and the exam result.

I suspect these kids are getting A's in the class but only 3's or worse in the exam. Which shows bad grade elevation and is unlikely to impress AO's.

Hit send too soon. Your kid will be fine in the long run. Let them be bummed this week but they aren’t alone in being rejected and they will be fine wherever they end up

How do you explain the high stats MCPS admits on this thread?

Is it freshman connection or literally "spring admission"? Spring would be new process. FC allows classes and dorm in the fall. Just undeclared and limited classes for one semester.

Denied W school, 4.0/4.6, 1450. Wish I was shocked but had heard that past years were similar.

You’re quoting my kid’s stats. She got As in all the APs and 4/5s on the exams - submitted. No 3s. Sorry that doesn’t fit your narrative.

let’s see if his theory holds true. if your high stat kid is rejected, list the high school. $5 a high percentage of high stat kids who are rejected will come from W schools/magnet programs. Yes, there will be those with that same profile will get in but a lot of the rejections will be happening to kids with that profile.

I’m shocked at how competitive UMD has become. My older high kid stats got in but my younger kid won’t have a prayer.
