+1 Some of you are recommending such depressing movies! |
The Holiday
Hot Tub Time Machine |
Real Pain - loved it. Serious but hopeful.
For a laugh, Bridesmaids or Dumb and Dumber |
Tender Mercies with Robert Duval really pulled me in. I think it’s from 1982 or 3.

The Last Holiday
Any John Hughes movie Gandhi Other epics |
Just taking clues from her mentions of Erin Brockavich and a few good men. Not exactly light movies. |
Erin Brokovitch made me think of Datk Waters with Mark Ruffalo. Very good.
Seconding Hidden Figures Ford v Ferrari--not something I thought I would like at all but it was very enjoyable escapism. |
Exactly this. I thought they wanted something intense and engaging. |
Agree with Oceans 11, Oceans 12, Bourne movies. Also Pitch Perfect, Mean Girls, Devil Wears Prada. |
The substance, Demi Moore just won a golden globe for it.
It is dementedly brilliant and strangely the most empowering movie I have watched in a while. Just don’t eat during it. Its a wild ride which is so escapist that you will continue to think about it long after it’s finished. |
+1, excellent movie |
Bullet Train was a lot of fun.
I have started watching Gilmore Girls and can recommend it for a lighthearted show. It wasn't on my radar whenever it initially aired, but has been just what I've needed lately as I'm not in such a great place. It's a throwback to a better simpler time. Characters don't have a ton of depth, but the dialogue is snappy and fun. Nothing dark or horrible happens to any of the characters and any setbacks are quickly resolved. |
I just watched Chinatown with Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. It’s really really good. Since the LA fires my husband has been telling me to watch it because it’s about who controls water in LA. |
Identity Thief, Legally Blond |
+1 ! |
