Riverside and Robinson are the same. |
Yes, they are! Loudmouth, delusional parents that over estimate the talent that their public school teams possess and boys that bought into that hype. |
Severna Park is good, they have won the MD State championship I believe 4 straight seasons in whatever division they are in. |
| I love hearing the public schools pump their chest on here. What’s funny is you have to keep in mind that even when privates play public, they have to step back in time and play without a shot clock. This changes everything! Most public’s will stall, hold the ball with hopes for a low scoring and “competitive looking” game. Now if you played with a shot clock and can’t stall, these games become total boat race games with privates thumbing every public 99% of the time. For example, if Landon would have played Robinson last year without a shot clock, it would have been a 15 goal game. Keep up the great work at Robinson, no one’s discounting or discrediting your championships. But don’t come on here and pretend that they’re anywhere remotely in the same class as the big privates lol! First lesson most public school parents learn real fast when their kiddo plays a private. |
| I don’t think Robinson is in the top tier but is certainly competitive with the 5th in WCAC, 4th in the iac and even top in mac. |
Whether it's a shot clock or not is based on who the home team is. And privates most often want their game at home. You don't seem to know much about what you're talking about, so we can probably extend that to your strawman results. |

The traditional public powers from VA who have won multi-state titles, Robinson, Madison, and Riverside are on par with playing the Heights (generally always 5th in the WCAC) or whoever is the last place team in the IAC that given season (historically has been STA, now St. Stephens).
With that said, Robo, Riverside and Madison would likely all beat the smack out of the bottom teams from the WCAC (Ryken, Ireton, O'Connell etc etc.). Shifting over to Maryland, Severna Park and Broadneck from Anne Arundel are pretty damn good - I know in recent years they have both beat DeMatha. I'm pretty sure Severna Park played Landon not too long ago and it was a pretty tight game too and has knocked off Severn in recent years as well. |
There could be a lot of jumbling in spots 4 - 10. |
3-5 in the WCAC last year were GC, DM and PVI. IF the top couple teams in a given year of either MD or VA happened to play them or the bottom 3 teams in IAC, maybe the top MAC team, too, you could throw them all in a hat for results. Maybe the privates win more, maybe not. The top 5 privates in DC have separated, that's about it. |
+1 I've read enough DCUM lacrosse discussion to know that a pompous, sarcastic tone typically does NOT correlate to wisdom and accuracy. |
| Honestly, when was the heights was top 5 in wcac? But point taken on robo crushing DJI, ireton and McNamara. Robo would contend for 4th or 5th |
Ireton did well v these teams in the fall league. They beat Robo and lost to Madison by 1. Yeah it is fall but as others have mentioned if the played NCAA rules that would benefit BI. Either way it would not be accurate to say they could beat the smack out of Ireton. They are probably at the same level as Ireton and a long way from PVI. |
You could have stopped at "it is fall". No one said shot clock rules would favor BI but you. Last year, PVI was bounced in their 1st game in the quarters so they might not remember how the VISAA playoffs went. Blue Ridge won, walking through all Private-1 competition. Blue Ridge beat PVI earlier in the year, also also played 2 publics. They got doubled up + by VA public (Atlee) and almost the same by Charlotte area Lake Norman. This, the #1 private in Virginia. Outta here with that nonsense. |
| Other than Landon v riverside, any other VA private v public? |
What this really says is visaa isn’t really a true picture and that the pvi super26’s were too young or not as good as people want them to be. Bullis is having the same thing going on. |
