Same rules apply as in states, no drinks she didn’t watch get poured by from bartender or open bottle herself- whether water or anything else. Always have cell phone charged and set up for international plan. Always carry phone, money and US consulate number everywhere. |
OMG, that must have been absolutely wild. I can only imagine the stories! |
I have a friend who was there in the late 90s. Some crazy stories. |
Did they try and turn you into an agent? |

Not study abroad but grad-school-related professional experience in 2000 traveling with 3 other students to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Saratov, and Krasnodar. It was great fun even at its downscale worst. |

Madagascar, which ultimately led me to join Peace Corps, which led to a career in international development. |
Me too- it was amazing! |
Semester at Sea in the 1980s, took classes on the ship, visited 10 countries and literally traveled around the world. Left from the Bahamas final stop in Hong Kong before flying back to San Francisco. Yes, fully accredited, and the most amazing experiences. |
London in the 90s. Amazing experience and traveled every weekend since I only had classes Tuesday-Thursday. |
