Traveling with skis

When we bought our ski bag at Sun & Ski, the sales lady said to put bubble wrap around the “tips and tails”. We have a double bag that fits 3 pairs of skis - 2 adult, 1 tween. Be aware, ski arrival at DEN takes freaking forever at baggage claim.

We ski with a family of 5 and we are currently able to fit all of our gear in 2 ski bags and 2 boot bags (kids are young). We do rent cars, typically a Tahoe size. One kid sits in the 3rd row and the other side of the third row is folded down to make extra trunk space for gear.

It sounds like in your case everyone can carry their own stuff into the airport, which makes this totally manageable. Not having to rent is gold.
