It only gets worse next year. We only have one day built-in.

They're thinking they want to push the hard decisions down the line to someone else.

More evidence the BoE is preparing to throw him under the bus. He's the one that's going to have to recommend the day. There's no choice that won't cause people to hate him. He's going to have to pick between students/families and teachers.

How often does MCPS make up snow days by extending the school year further into the summer? Especially when it means pushing the last day of school back into a later week? My oldest is still young-- would appreciate a recap from folks regarding how many times in the last decade or so they have done this!

That's pretty much the only thing he's done. We already had orientations for new students and ES students. That was plenty.

I would say extending the year has been infrequent. Maybe 4-5 times over the past 16 years? Of course we have a new superintendent and new MSDE rules now, so things can change.

No way. Use the holidays as makeup days, and if you observe you get an excused absence anyway.

You often only get 1 day to make up work. If you have an obligation the next day, you can’t do it. It’s persecution.
