Are people starting to hoard ahead of next year?

The truck drivers put off their strike temporarily, but that might still happen around January. I've picked up some extra nonperishable foods and other necessities like toilet paper in the event the strike happens.

This.

The Senate is Republican control and most likely the House is as well. Total and complete power and control. It’s more likely than you’re letting on.

They have like a 5 seat majority in Congress, you’re not leading from the fringes with that. He had like a 41 seat majority term 1. Resistance Twitter needs to cool their jets. It’s like some of you WANT him to be as despotic as possible and will do anything to convince yourselves it’s about to be Mad Max.

The president and Supreme Court can.

Ok. Again, worst case scenario, it would take at least a year for it to even GET to the Supreme Court and then for them to hear it and uphold whatever case brought standing. Some of you have lost it. I mean that. Go buy your groceries and chill tf out.

Thing is, we'll probably have a surplus of Chinese imports, as his proposed tariffs will render them more expensive than any reasonable person will want to pay. You'll still be able to find everything; you'll just be paying out the ass for it.

I know a few people who are buying goods made in China now just so they don't get price-gouged for them in the next few years. That said, most of us who're aware of this have tried to find manufacturing sources closer to home ever since Trump's last term. His (racist) policies aren't news.

My household has surplus shelf-stable goods because I'm Californian and earthquakes don't give warnings. There's no way to prepare for long-term shortages in a metro area like the DMV, so we haven't gone excessive in our prepping. Might add an extra pack of TP and a bit more cash, just in case, but I don't think Trump's chaos is something I can adequately prepare to defend against.

I believe you are referring to Covid related shortages.

Yes, which happened in the Trump years and were a symptom of his gross mismanagement of that crisis.

I can’t believe Americans voted for more of that. I mean, he caused the inflation.

Funny you would think that, when we all know Biden’s failed economic policy is exactly why you had your bum handed to you.

"Failed economic policy"? You don't even know what that means, do you? Fcking idiots.

This may be coincidence or just a matter of restocked not coming by yet but it got me thinking about whether particularly in the DMV folks are starting to anticipate what’s to come (ala the beginning of COVID) with tariffs and the like. I know some think prices will come down, but I suspect many like me think we’re about to really go into a recession….

that sounds like a typical Sunday. Grocery stores restock on Mondays & Tuesdays, OP.

I thought in person grocery shopping was for the poors or low class?

Wow the sheer ignorance on this thread. Good God.

Can you please stop being ridiculous? The new administration comes in NEXT YEAR. And will be incompetent and inefficient, even though it comes in with a plan, just because the people making the plans are a few fries short of a Happy Meal.

Did you think this last time, too? Were you blissfully unaware of how much chaos they were able to cause the first time around? Is that what allows you to be so carefree and at ease with the thought of what they can do now that they have experience, more connections, and a stacked deck?

I mean, I hope you're right. I hope he's just a bumbling boob for 4 years and accomplishes nothing. I really do. He, individually, certainly fits the description. But the president is a figurehead, and there's a lot more at play behind the scenes, from parties who have already made their intentions plain.

Bit bold to assume they didn't mean to do exactly what they said they were going to do.

Did nothing negative happen to you in the first round of this? Are you a proud boy or some other supremacist idiot/incel?

Probably all shop-lifted. Trump will fix that.
