since it's anonymous ... what happened with Kid 2? If you're willing to share. Where did they end up and were they successful? How was high school for them.?

There was such a big difference - 1300 junior year versus 1550 senior year - that I think it was a waste of time taking it junior year. Perhaps some of that was the difference between the written tests junior year and the digital tests senior year though. The curious thing was that his verbal score didn't really change from junior to senior year, but his math score went way up.

yeah- but what if they got the 1300 the first time they took it Senior year?

That's risky. Better to see baseline and weak areas--and some test days are harder than others and the 'curve' doesn't fully capture that.

I'd still take one junior year first.

The junior year "lessons learned" about weaknesses didn't really carry over into senior year. Leaving aside the paper vs digital issue, it was eight months later. I don't think he remembered the 2023 tests at all. The practice tests he took over the summer of 2024 captured the baseline and the weak areas well enough.

Some colleges require ALL scores, like Georgetown. Cambridge University in the UK wants no re-takes. They want the top scores to be achieved first time. They contact the College Board to get all the information and if its not been provided, they toss your application.
