For private school kids, it’s hard to get in top 10 schools. Not easy to get 4.0 gpa

Then why comment on the DC private school thread?

Private parents wanting a private experience on DCUM.

So funny.

Well, it's just distracting to have to sift through completely irrelevant crap about life in Dallas or Chicago when you live in DC and are using a site called -- are you ready for it? -- DC Urban Moms

So no dads? Even DC dads?

So, so funny.

Not acc to the PP. It’s just moms and just DC.

People need to stay out of her exclusive community. Even other private school parents.

The sifting is so distracting!

Yes, true. But U Chi is not popular among students for some reasons.

I do not know about others. When I was 18, I wanted to be in a college town not an urban school. And I did not care about "prestige" - still don't - which is maybe good for some other folks here.

Now that is funny. We need more of your humor on DCUM.

This.

Or music conservancies? Or strong performing arts? Or recruitable in the sport you play? Or strong disability services? Or drivable from home?

These lists have no meaning when you are talking about a real kid who knows what they want or don't want.

True, but so many on DCUM want their kid to get a humanities degree that they forget some families are making different choices.

And for Engineering, it largely does not matter which E School the student graduates from. ABET makes sure E School curricula are largely standardized and there are no "easy" E Schools. Even the schools who do not bother with ABET (e.g., MIT, CalTech) have essentially the same curricula.

As a STEM hiring manager, I know from experience that the ODU ECE graduate is fully competent, for example. Engineers know this; people outside engineering have trouble grasping this.
