Anyone else having trouble with Amanda Lewis and her positions on treating breast cancer?

Her body and choice. Not all of us want to be chopped up into medical experiences. It says a lot about your quality of character to be passing such judgements on a dying woman...

I did EVERYTHING doctors recommended, surgery, chemo, radiation, other drugs. I still progressed from stage 3 to 4 in less than 3 years.

Did you do estrogen blockers (tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors?).

Did she ever do chemo?

I think they didn’t catch hers very early. No one was talking about anal cancer back then.

They caught it in plenty of time to have potentially cured it, but the most aggressive treatment would have involved an ostomy and she was not willing to have one. This was in 2006. She had other treatment--but not the recommended surgery--was declared "cancer-free," and then died in 2009.

She would literally rather die than have an ostomy. Absolute idiocy.

Ugh. I’m sorry to hear this

Honestly have a lot of respect for the fact that she went public about the bad decisions she made in refusing treatment. I have sympathy for those who don’t trust our medical system, but people need to understand that you can’t just refuse life saving treatments even if they have flaws and drawbacks. She made a mistake and owned it. I hope she found peace with all of it.

I certainly wouldn't call that idiocy, especially in someone that far into to their life.

While I can see your point of view on this - ultimately how one decides to treat their affliction is really a very unique as well as personal one.
Meaning it is not up to us to judge how other people deal with their health issues. ❤️‍🩹

To each their own.

The lesson here is that now, many women will hear Ananda’s story & call their doctors to make an appointment for a mammogram.
And those that do unfortunately get diagnosed w/breast cancer will not blink an eye on going ahead w/a mastectomy.

I truly believe that women will learn from Ananda’s mistakes which she was very open about when discussing her breast cancer journey.

I'm so sorry that this has happened to you. You have my sympathy and I hope the best for you.

Is your position that because of what has happened to you, women should forgo surgery, chemo, radiation, drugs etc? Are you trying to say standard medical care does not work?

If you are I'd love to introduce you to several women I know who've been able to live far longer than expected and have years with their kids that no one expected because of those treatments.

I wish the best for you.

C’mon. She didn’t say that. Don’t be an @ss to someone dealing with stage iv cancer.

Yes, I’m still waiting to hear which doctor has the cure.

Oh wait, they were thrown into prison. Welcome to the medical mafia.
