NP. Plenty of reviews come from people who have owned the item for a while. Usually they come back to review an item if something has gone wrong with it. |
| Wayfair is great for some things but you have to really take your time and read the negative reviews. I've purchased some pretty nice things on there--bathroom vanity, nightstands. I use them to supplement higher end furniture, especially for our 2nd home. |
| That sucks. I bought a couch from wayfair that I really like. But I spent a lot of time reading all the reviews, I ordered swatches, I compared other stuff, I did a reverse google search, etc. It probably took me 3 weeks to push the button and actually place the order. For me it was worth the time and research; I couldnt afford an expensive couch but I didnt want anything that felt or looked cheap either. |
| My Basset sectional is 15 years old and going strong. Stickley dining set and China cabinet. Stickley cherry sleigh bed. Stressless recliner. Getting decades out of each. Do not understand the Wayfair mindset. |
Can you not feel by look and touch? I can. It’s impossible to see in the online pics but in person fairly simple. |
| Did you open the box prior to scheduling the assembly guy? Maybe you would have noticed that the wood wasn’t what you expected and could have easily returned the piece. |
Nope. That PP still has her grandma's furniture |
Could you share which one you got? I am looking for a couch |
My Bassett sleigh bed is going strong 23 years later but I hate the cherry finish and of course the sleigh design. Just hate it. |
Can you share the link to the vanity? |
Most people don’t go back to review a year + later. And by reviews, I also meant professional reviews. |
You say it like that’s an insult. Furniture was well made. I wish I had more of it. My grandmother also bought some ‘modern’ furniture in her time -Haywood Wakefield. I wish we’d hung on to it. |

We have purchased 2 vanities from wayfair an have been happy with both. One is several years old. They both had very good reviews,
I have also purchased wooden bar stools (very pleased), a set of parsons chairs (pleased), an accent chair (looks nice, gets very minimal use so fits the purpose of looking pretty and feeling comfortable the few times we sit in it), 3 different solid wood pieces purchased years apart (very pleased with all of them, 1 accent table, one sofa table and a bookshelf), and one ottoman that looked pretty but got destroyed very quickly due to most of it being particle board. Reading the reviews is key, along with doing a reverse image search. |
I have some of that. It’s still in excellent shape. |

You have to be smart with Wayfair; you can't buy just anything off of it because a lot of it is crap.
We have a toddler so for us it's been a good place to supplement our nicer furniture with stuff that looks good but we don't have to obsess over. And as other PPs have noted, always always read the reviews carefully (the more the better), confirm the materials, and if possible, only buy name brands you recognize. |
