They should have branded White Flint as a mall catering to SAHMs, nannies, and elderly mall walkers by keeping it safe and filled with stores for babies/kids and their parents anchored by nice department stores and restaurants.
Dave & Busters was the downfall. It introduced a rowdy nighttime element. I think everyone will miss having safe malls. You can’t set foot in Wheaton Plaza or Columbia Mall these days. |
I think the word you're looking for is "capitalism" or maybe "lawyers employed by the Lerner family." |

I loved Borders and my kids loved those escalators!
What are the current plans for the property? |
Plans for a mixed use development were approved 10-15 years ago, but the owners have no current plans to move forward with anything. They’re waiting for a big name (like Amazon which they lost out on) to anchor the development. |
| The Vegetable Garden. Proximity to red line. Those were the best of times. |
Yes! I loved that lord and taylor. Those were happy days. |
The cobblestone alley on the lower level, I magnum, and Rainbow hair salon. I always preferred White Flint to Montgomery mall. It was more compact but had better stores. Ten years ago, there were rumors of a wegmans. |
Same here. I didn’t grow up in the area, but worked near there and used to go to Lord & Taylor on my lunch break. |
| I was a young teen when the mall opened. My friends and I would hang out there, shopping, eating, running around. Loved the Bloomingdale’s, for its great sales, the Pants Corral, the card store. |
| I Magnum, the cobblestone area, Bloomies, there was a fantastic jewelry store and a great custard place. But mostly I miss a place where I could get whatever I needed quickly. A day at white flint with my mom was magical. |
I remember before Bertucci's there was a different Italian place in that space called Bertolini's. I loved their pasta. |
