I think everyone is talking past one another, perhaps because of focusing on different timeframes. When I went to college in the late 80s, our college orientation person said that in the US at that time, 50% of girls were sexually active prior to college. (They were trying to assure people that they were all "normal." I don't know the number now, but if you're saying its 33%, then that is much lower. |
| I’m surprised so few people my age knew teenage moms. I graduated from HS in the late 1990s, and definitely knew/knew of a fair number of teenage parents (one even had a baby in 8th grade). My HS actually had a program for teen moms… they provided childcare onsite & support/education to help the moms stay in school & graduate. But the adjacent county had a really high teen pregnancy rate. |
