False.

NP no, the pp is absolutely correct. Trader Joe’s is basically a 7-11 for hipsters.

I don't like the fruit at Trader Joe's but the prepped/bagged veggie selection is very good and much cheaper for the same at Whole Foods.

Specifically:
french green beans
baby cauliflower
broccolini
bagged broccoli and cauliflower
mini carrots (not baby carrots but small carrots peeled in a variety of colors)
snap peas
mushrooms

Their grape/cherry tomatoes are just as good as whole foods. persian cucumbers are cheaper and also just as good.

Their cheese selection is very good too. I haven't had any problems with their meat either.

Meat, nuts, beans, rice, fruits, vegetables, eggs, yogurt, hummus…yeah sounds like all processed food at Trader Joe’s to me.

Whereas grocery stores have lucky charms, kool aid, jello, donuts….but you don’t call those stores horrible and filled with processed foods?

The Trader Joe’s haters are weird. What’s your real beef with it? You don’t HAVE to buy the frozen apps and cakes. Just like you don’t have to buy those at Safeway or…gasp, Whole Foods.

Yeah, but some of the processed crap is soo yummy!

TJs is easy intstant meals and snacks for young/single people, Costco is for families that mostly cook from scratch.

Disagree. Costco is for gluttons who want a giant pre-made pot pie, pallet of disgusting croissants, or a gallon of mayo

Hey! I buy in bulk at Costco so I can make gluttonous quantities of homemade crap!

I never understood the appeal and purpose of Costco, especially if one has Amazon and also all the many different options like Safeway, Walmart, Target Wegmans, Giant, Lidl....etc. all around the corner and with super similar prices. I get that Costco has some seasonal things and great sales once in a while on a limited set of items. I have gone to Costco on two separate occasions to see if i like it and both times i could not find my favorite products, the savings per oz were very tiny to justify buying so many boxes of one thing. Diapers and wipes, paper towel are among some of the many times that have a better price on Amazon. My two cents No pun intended. Oh and on TJ - they have excellent meat, milk, bread, eggs, butter, yogurt, fruit ... not sure what the person saying they have processed only is talking about, they do have processed but so does every other store.

I’m vegetarian and cook 90% of our meals from scratch. I get a lot of stuff at TJs. Frozen veggies, seasonings, vinegars, salad blends, bagged lemons and avocados, cheese, yogurt, legumes, grains.

Disagree with the Trader Joe’s comments- I am able to do 99percent of my shopping at Trader Joe’s. We eat healthy and not a lot of processed at all. It’s easy to get real, whole food ingredients to cook with.

Really? They have good frozen foods and snacks but the produce goes bad so fast.

DP. I never understand comments like these. How long are you expecting fresh produce to last?! It's SUPPOSED to go bag if you don't use it within a few days.

I've never had a problem with the produce from TJs, but I use things within days.

If you're expecting produce (other than apples, onions, potatoes, etc) to last 1-2 weeks, then you're doing it wrong. Because that's not normal.

I haven’t checked lately, but my basis of comparison used to be that Dubliner Irish Cheddar at Trader Joe’s was half the price per pound vs. the regular grocery store. Costco was 1/2 the price per pound vs. Trader Joe’s.

FWIW, when I started paying attention, I typically save $1.50 per gallon on milk at Costco v. Giant. $1 minimum. Costco adjusts its price every few weeks, Giant does not.

Costco has better prices, customer service, employment policies, and it's more efficient to get everything (including gas and alcohol) in one stop rather than multiple stores and waiting for deliveries.

I wonder if they use fewer preservatives on their produce

Why ‘or’? I want all three!!

I dislike Trader Joe's. It doesn't count as a grocery store at all. Nothing but frozen food and crap. I love Aldi and Costco. I buy fruits, meats and veggies, I have no idea what to buy at TJ other than the huge chocolate bar.
