Telling time isn't "art" is a basic life skill, the basic of all life skills.

Yes, like all of us were taught to read a sundial. Honestly, we don’t read Roman numerals or sundials. And our kids are not going to be looking at cursive and analog clocks in their 30s. It is what it is. The world moves on.

NP. Who is the “we” that don’t read Roman numerals? My watch has Roman numerals.

This is insane. I'm highly concerned for the future of America. Parents for the love of god please teach your kids how to read the clock and tie their shoes. My god. SMH.

You're an idiot. I guess your child is one of the ones who can't read a clock or tie their shoes. You need to be worried for their future.

I would think this was a joke but I was volunteering in 3rd grade, and some kids asked me the time. I pointed to the clock right above us (11:30), I thought maybe they didn't know where it was. They couldn't read it.

There is no way kids can’t read a block. This must be a joke lol

For some reason, my kid with a high IQ and no learning disability or other diagnosis had the hardest time telling time on an analog clock

She finally managed it in middle school. Her ADHD/ASD brother could do that as a preschooler.

Kids are weird.

Yes, my babysitter who is going to a great medical school cannot read one. She was practicing all summer because she knows hospitals will have analog clocks.

DS is in 6th and he can, but he had an analog watch for much of elementary. We went whale watching last week and the guides were saying things like "whale at 2 o'clock" and half the boat had no idea where to look.

Of course!

Trying showing your child a rotary phone a ask them to dial a number. They try to "push" on the numbers 🙂

I'm 38 and barely remember how to use one!

DS is in 6th and he can. If it doesn't have numbers it definitely takes him a second though. He also knows military time since that's what DH and I primarily use.

Yes. We actually have an analog clock in our kitchen so they learned at home.

Yes of course. Since 2nd grade
