That's unfortunate. The Parks and Rec employee was a hard working guy with an important job. Did the entitled thief kid's parents get charged with anything?

Why would they? Kids make mistakes. News flash: a dumba55 13 year old who breaks into cars doesn't deserve to die.

Property crimes don't deserve violent retribution. Sorry to break it to you. This man is getting exactly what he deserved.

So he retaliated by teaching that kid a lesson. I think that's what carried over into the court room. I don't have a gun and I really wouldn't hurt a fly, but if for some reason I shot and hurt (much less killed) someone, I'd fall apart and pretty much die myself. I can't even imagine. And I would be so remorseful in that courtroom. Genuinely. Like I'm guilty. I took someone's baby from them. Just lock me up forever. He didn't have a shred of that. He probably still thinks what he did was justified.

This is pretty typical of drivers, who overreact to anyone doing anything to their vehicle, whether a crime or not. Dude was angry someone had the nerve to break into his vehicle and he wanted to take it out on someone. Now he's spending the next 12.5 years of his life in a federal prison. Great work, dude. Hope it was worth it.

Does he deserve the same exact sentence as a guy who shot a man in front of his two kids in a targeted murder?

The judicial system in this city is deranged.

Accidentally taking someone's bag is a mistake. This kid was a repeat thief and criminal.

A 13 year old who plays adult crimes deserves adult times. Or at least, their parents do.

Ditto.

You had an established, hard working Black man working to improve his city.

And then you had this entitled brat with sh!tty parents. Charge the kid's family members - they're the one who failed Karon, not Jason Lewis.

He doesn't deserve to die but we don't have to feel particularly sad about this tragic ending to a sad life.

They should charge the parents too.

Or maybe they should enact the death penalty on their oldest son? Oh, that already happened? I'd say they've been punished.

Moral people don't endorse vigilante violence over minor property crimes and no matter your whining, car break-ins are minor. Don't like it? Move to Texas. I'm sure you'll love it there. Otherwise STFU
