With a BMI of 20, I'm the "fat one" in the family.

It's all fine, OP. Don't overthink it. Only in America would normal people like you worry ab out too thin!!! Ha.

They should get blood work ($50 test) for celiac. Being perpetually underweight is a symptom of celiac disease. You don't absorb nutrition as your villae are gone (blunted).

Sigh. No, they don't have celiac disease, or any other malabsorption issue - they just don't eat a lot because they're not that hungry. They're not American. In the US, being overweight is the actual statistical norm. So anything slimmer is now viewed as needing medical attention.

Both my mom and my grandma don’t eat much because they aren’t hungry, I counted and they consume about 900 calories per day. My grandma did live until 90, but her quality of life was poor to due being extremely thin - no stamina to do any activities aside from being stationary at home watching TV and my mom has mild depression. She stopped learning new things around 40, the amount of fat she consumed cannot support her brain function, she’s very forgetful cannot process complex ideas starting at a very young age.

I am now at the same age and I process large amount of real time information at work, I still have good energy for hobbies. thanks to my American diet 🤷‍♀️

So being a little chubby can go a long way in quality of life and happiness.

I am 6'0 man and only weight 135 lbs. I am totally healthy. Some of us are just too thin by nature. When in doubt always check with your doctor. In my home country I am slightly below average. In the US I am seen as a walking dead man someone who must have some health issues going on lol
