This all-girls high school has more swimming medals than most countries

SR parent here. Honestly, SR is going a bit over the top with the constant posting on Instagram and FB. This is a school with a lot more dimension to this institution beyond athletics and celebrating olympians. It would be nice if they balanced that out even just a tiny bit. This year they have declared that the focus would be on Goal #1, "a personal and active faith in God." Let's hope they deliver on that. Celebrating athletes is wonderful, but there is more than that to celebrate.

Gees. We are smack dab in the middle of the Olympics and Stone Ridge is highlighting Olympic and athletic excellence at a fitting time. I am not a Stone Ridge parent, but I am very happy to see them highlighting and amplifying their alum so ecstatically. The Olympics are once every four years. Let them have their shine and inspire the next generation of girls. That will surely make a tangible impact. I hope to see more of Stone Ridge highlighting their excellence in the days to come. Sure, there is more to celebrate when the time comes but it's certainly fitting and appropriate for them to highlight these athletes the way they have. Be supportive!

Parent of SR alumnae…my kids swam with these Olympians and I think it is fabulous!! The most decorated female American Olympian in history and 2 other incredibly talented Olympians from a small Catholic school in the DMV- the coverage should be over the top!! Outside some posts when Katie was at school, there is little coverage of the SR swim team- and it has been incredibly successful over the past decade. There will be no lack of Focus on Goal #1, I am certain. There is so much Gator pride for these Olympians- I think the current focus is absolutely warranted- the entire world is watching in awe of all of these athletes. Go Gators!!

I’d prefer my school be boasting about academic awards and competitions than athletics. But that’s just me.

The summer Olympics only runs for a few weeks every four years. They can't hype their athletes during that timeframe? School isn't even in session right now. Let people be excited.

By September they’ll focus on god and academics again. The Olympics are almost over. Let them have their moment.

It's fitting and appropriate for them to celebrate this AND other dimensions of the school. I'm kind of bummed that my MS kid, who is a fair to good swimmer, seems intimidated to take swimming there as a PE credit. It's a great life skill and I would think that at a "swimming school" all the girls would be clamoring to swim and feel that wherever they are, they can get support and improve. They are maybe appropriately messaging on the superstars, but under messaging on other things.

This is Stone Ridge though. Exactly why we declined.
