Does your rising senior have a dream school?

Friend’s DD was a legacy at Kenyon and applied ED. She was a strong student so it was basically a lock. My DS is has near perfect grades and scores, but I went to an Ivy and am not a billionaire donor so legacy status unlikely to help there and my DH went to UMich which supposedly doesn’t consider legacy status.

Several others for whom Stanford is their dream school.

Also many who regard the University of Florida or the University of Georgia as their dream school partially because they are state residents and qualify to attend tuition free.

US Naval Academy or West Point for many others.

NYU for some.

That was it for DC1. Medical condition made it a hard NO. Tough pill to swallow but the rational brain understood the reasoning.

DC2 dreams of DH’s alma maters (an SEC and SLAC) but realizes they might not have the stats nor would we have the finances…so reality is leading to a much healthier open mind for a variety of schools.

I reject the dream school idea.

My kid does not. Yale. We toured on the most beautiful day, it was kind of crazy.
