Did your kid not pursue engineering because they chose to attend a college that doesn't have an engineering major?

Is it a preference for SLAC or just a smaller school? There are smaller engineering schools like Rose Hulman, Clarkson, Lehigh, Union, etc. These all also have biology and physics.
