So all this romanticism and waxing poetically about HS soccer when the season only lasts 2 months?

All this ridiculous criticism of HS soccer, when the season is only 2 months?

The criticism is ridiculous, agreed. But at our MCPS hs it’s longer than two months. Practices/workouts all year up to 3x a week including summer and season is August - November for varsity (shorter for jv). It actually gets dicey for those doing club or another sport or wanting to work or vacation in the summer because there are so many things. But maybe that’s just our hardcore coach.

The high injury occurrence from the ill-advised excessive workouts is indeed earned

Most adults are encouraged to exercise 5 days per week. What's the issue?

Tryouts start in Feb. This year first scrimmages were end of Feb for some. Not every conference is set up to play everyone twice. But yes, it is a short season.

Our HS program (private) is ridiculous. No concept of load, rest, training. Most of the team is injured before the first game due to the pre-season-tryouts. By mid-season several are completely out. Add in club for some of them and it’s a disaster. Fall season.

My kids now just do mls next. My oldest is the only one from the HS class playing in college next year.
