So much class. and all because people want to wash their hands. Do you feel judged? |
| Pizza rolls, pig in a blanket, mozz sticks, etc. in a thermos. I find warm food is better for the pool since kids are more often cold from the water than hot. |
| Sometimes in summer we do a big meal for breakfast like a big veggie hash with eggs and then have breakfast stuff at the pool like fruit, yogurt and granola, bagels and cream cheese, etc. |
Maybe OP’s family has allergies. My family can’t eat anything prepared inside the grocery store. |
Lord save us, please do not take hard-boiled eggs to the pool.
|
| When my kids were little I did this all the time, we packed cut fruit and veggies, tortilla chips, the mini single serving guacamole, cheese sticks plus cold leftovers if we had them. Sometimes I’d bring chicken nuggets, pizza slices or quesadillas. |
NP, but you realize your kids are SWIMMING in that for hours, right? |
Bring an extra bottle of water, some wipes, and hand sanitizer to Clean hands. I’m a germaphobe in a lot of settings, but this is silly. |

Why wouldn’t you take hard-boiled eggs? What’s wrong with them? |
What is in the DC water that everyone is so obsessed with poop? It's bizarre. |
What’s wrong with hard boiled eggs? |
I feel like there’s more nasty germs on the door handle PP’s kids touch on the way out of the bathroom than there are in the chlorinated pool. |
This. Uncrustables are great pool food. Pack of salami/pepperoni and a box of crackers and some yogurt pouches. bag of carrots, grapes, blueberries. Chips and salsa. Chips and guac. PB+J spoons or better yet the mixed pbj jars on some crackers. Cheese sticks. Popcorn. Pretzels. Hummus and pita/pita chips. Hummus and pretzels. If your pool has a microwave just buy packaged burritos and stuff they can heat up. Honestly you need to do some type of prep whether its washing or cutting. I do all of that after we shop so it isnt something we do daily and thats what I would start doing. Just get one of those snack trays on IG and fill it with the prepped food you already have. And if you are prepping food before every meal and snack theres the problem. When washed, dried, and stored properly fruit and veggies last 3-5 days and my family gets through it all within that time frame. Add fruit snacks, granola bars, etc. but those types of foods are expensive and packaged. There really isnt food that can be not prepped that isnt pre-prepared and therefore, tends to be sugary or filled with crap. Real food needs some type of prep. It doesnt need to be a 3-course dinner but pasta salad or making muffins on Sunday night isnt a stretch. But there is very little easy food that is also whole foods. And having pool food be the snack food is legit but you cant ask for real food that doesnt require prep, its very limited. |
pool chemicals got VERY expensive and I would bet dollars to donuts many pools were on the edge of necessary ranges in order to limit costs. |
