How does one swim both A and B meets?

In our league you’re allowed to swim the same events in B meets as you did in A meets IF you didn’t score points at it in the A meet (1st, 2nd, 3rd). I can see how this helps smaller teams but it kind of stinks for our larger team. Some kids who are pretty good but not great get fourth a lot at A , and then come swim that event again the following B meet. This just gives them more chances to beat out kids who are on the bubble for making A meets. Kids are also allowed to swim 3 individual events at A meets which further reduces the number of swims for kids on the bubble. My kids have been the star of the age group and the kid on the bubble, depending on the kid and the year. I’d prefer the NVSL rules where kids only get two individual events at A meets. I think summer swim should be as inclusive as possible.

It just wouldn’t count for points and would be marked ‘Exhibition’ on the meet results. Typically it’s the smaller teams that allow this. Larger teams don’t have space for this.

how do you even count points on B meets? they often don't have same amount of swimmers.

They wouldn't count in placement, so their ribbon would say 'participant' or something. They couldn't come in first.

What league is this? MCSL doesn't have exhibition swims, so it's a new concept for me.

MCSL B meets can have exhibition swims, if the two teams agree on it. As a PP mentioned, this is all between teams when it comes to B meets.

The coach/rep would just tell automation not to "place" the swimmer. Automation software has a way to do this if the automation people know how.
