What do you do with your wills?

We have a a big binder in our home office. with wills, trusts, medical directives etc. Our adult son has a complete copy on a portable drive. My husband has a detailed spreadsheet with all of our investments and key contacts such as banks, private equity firms, money managers.

Attorney files it with the state (or county, can’t remember which). We also gave copies to close relatives. Attorney said if everything else failed, one of the first things that’s done when someone passes away and relatives aren’t sure if there’s a will, is that the court can check if there is one on file. If there is, they’ll notify the relatives that a will exists, but not what it says (I think they have to file a petition to actually get a copy).
