When a huge number of kids are pouring in the practice and vying to be at the top, but some are still decidedly better than others, it's not just the practice. There is something special about the top kids, whether it is mathcounts or some sort of Bee. In the case of the VA kids, they were leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else in VA. According to AOPS, the #1 VA kid at state had a 42/46. The 4th place was 34/46. That difference is huge. At nationals, the top VA kid got a 36. #3 and #4 on the VA team got scores of 27 or lower. Again, that's huge. It also should be pointed out that a lot of the top kids, including the top VA one, also earned USAJMO honors. Re: the bolded: Understatement of the year. Your kid honestly isn't in the same stratosphere as these two kids. |
Math is the essential basis of science and technology. Assuming you know the full school name of TJ. |
DCUM’s level of hate and vitriol never ceases to amaze and disappoint me. Seems reflective of the nastiness increasingly prevalent in the deep blue DMV. Long past the time to find a more sane place to live in the USA. |
That isn't remotely true. |
You people are showing yourself to be pathetic clowns. |
Wows, Karen. You’re jumping up and down the thread because some Asian kids are good at math and accusing others of hate. You amaze everyone. |
Ok. And, as I said, TJ isn’t just math class. - multiple STEM degrees |
Thanks for proving my point. Bye |
Don’t let the door hit you ![]() |
Wish TJ gets rid of calculus. It so hard. |
Sounds TJ isn’t the place for you. |
^Sounds like |
if they lower the math reqs even more it will be fine |
It's for math geniuses only? It doesnt seem fair that our base school students can graduate with Algebra 2, without having to take calculus. That option is absolutely needed at TJ. For art, music and sports interested, why is math beyond Algebra 2 needed anyway? Think, you all. |
Get some sleep, troll. You're off your game. |
