Mom was getting the child help, so this really makes no sense. |
3) Child has a chronic illness that is real that doctors are ignoring or dismissing and mom is tired of seeing the child suffer and desperate to get the child help. |
I am the PP who quoted, and yes, this is definitely a possibility. I am just wondering what the OP is thinking. Not that I think the OP is or isn't correct. Of course, I don't know. |
I believe all women, and I believe Maya was telling the truth about her pain. |
| Also, in Maya’s case, it wasn’t actually Johns Hopkins. It was a JH affiliate hospital… like Sibley. |
You did not say how you are involved, OP. How are you getting your information? |
Huh? 5’2” and 137 pounds is anorexic or overweight/obese? |
I think it was All Children’s in Florida. |
New poster: the prior one is correct. The hospital was required to report the case to CPS. They are mandatory reporters. The hospital was required to follow the court’s rulings based on the findings of CPS. |
Really? What about all the women who abuse and even murder their own kids because they have munchausen by proxy? |
It's 1). But in addition to the parent not handling the main issue ideally, whenever there is any sign of improvement in the main illness, they then find new symptoms to focus on. For example, when the main issue is under control, but then the child's toe appears swollen one day, the parent tries to get a diagnosis for arthritis, takes kid to a bunch of new doctors and asks them to run tests unrelated to the original diagnoses. Also takes siblings to the E.R. for no clear reason when the main child is feeling better (and they always get turned away after long waits.) |
I had a lot of pain as a child and now adult. I wish my parents would have tried to help vs ignore it. |
| OP here again. For the record, before this mother had kids, she had many undiagnosed health complaints, and went to dozens of doctors over the years trying to diagnose mystery illnesses. We all know that women's symptoms get dismissed, so I didn't question at the time, but I do think it's odd that ever since child got diagnosed with this bigger illness, the parent has stopped having health issues of their own. |
And who are you in relation to this mother and child? You seem to know (or think you know) a lot of personal medical details |
Netflix documentary about it "Take Care of Maya" really sad |
