I was in my thirties when he was dating this naive girl and no one thought it was cool. It was cringeworthy and he would not have survived had it been in today's media world. Still see him as creepy. I was her age at the time and it wasn't "very controversial" - at least not where I lived. It wasn't common - I didn't know people dating 30-something celebrities - but I also don't remember anyone being scandalized by it.

And he talked her parents into allowing her to relocate to LA to live with him and transfer to college in LA. I think we would call that grooming today.

I was her age at the time and it wasn't "very controversial" - at least not where I lived. It wasn't common - I didn't know people dating 30-something celebrities - but I also don't remember anyone being scandalized by it.

NP and I don’t remember ever hearing about who Seinfeld dated but I went to high school in the late nineties and it absolutely would be very controversial if a 17 year old had dated a 38 year old man. At least where I grew up- which was NY where this happened.
