JJill: For Women Who Have Given Up |
Honestly? Do a weight loss injectable and drop 15% of your body weight and this won’t be an issue anymore. I don’t care about being thin but I lost about 50 pounds with Ozempic taking me from a 16w-18w 1x-2x to a solid 14-16 XL. I’m still overweight/obese but the new ease of shopping and dressing has been life-changing in a way I didn’t ever anticipate. Plenty of other benefits (and drawbacks of course) but the clothes thing alone has made it worth it a million times over. |
Try MM Lafleur for classic office clothing up to size 20. Use the search term “petite friendly.” |
Then please edify us on which online retailer has “hip” conservative attire that is plus size AND petite. |
We all know the only place that really does plus petites is Talbots. PP no doubt is 5'9" and wears a size 4. She can shop anywhere. Someone in another post noted that fit is one of the most important elements of dressing well and that Talbots with its diversity of sizes across almost all its items offers this. That doesn't mean they don't have their share of atrocities. But there are a number of basics they do well, and you can get the right size. |
Not sure why people get so exercised about simple black work pants and khakis. Talbots is the only retailer I’ve found that makes larger size clothes that actually fit. I have large boobs and hips and a relatively small waist, and most “plus” size clothes hang on me like a sack. All others seem to just expand their existing pattern in all directions, so if they fit me in the chest, I have swaths of extra fabric in the waist. Talbots seems to actually use actual larger size fit models and produces clothes that fit real people. |
I actually find Abercrombie is good with a variety of lengths - I wear their tall, but my mom orders their short length - and their curve love is the only fit that works for me. I like the Sloan trouser, but if I were petite I would do some of their dresses. Or Old Navy’s - I love this one but it’s too short for me https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=8635250124006&vid=3&tid=onpl000078&kwid=1&ap=7&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_AT8t6vktyKstuHFbobl6tvIh0F&gclid=Cj0KCQjw_-GxBhC1ARIsADGgDjsBbFF7aKnfz5vRZgWRzFEyv5RwVX4-x6Oo7Vp-p93DpFbHNm5rqaEaAobBEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#pdp-page-content |
I am way younger than 75 and often shopped at Talbots and Ann Taylor - when I used to work in the office and shop. Now I pick up random pieces at Costco. |
+1 my friend bought a dress there to wear for her wedding. It was gorgeous. |
Try Nic+Zoe (nicanzoe.com). They have Plus and Petite sizes. |
Well, here we have it folks -- Talbots and Ann Taylor are just fine, says the fashionista who now buys their clothing at Costco. |
Old navy, Macys, lane Bryant, lands end
