So is the plan to cook it at King St. and bring it over to be stored? My son exclusively brings food from home due to a dietary issue, but I am sure that quite a few kids at ACHS rely on the school meals.

Don’t many student eat off campus for lunch?

I'm not sure if it is different for upper classmen, but my son definitely does not have the option to leave campus as a freshman. He can't even go to King St. for his one class there except via a bus provided by the school, and if he misses it, he is not allowed to walk and must spend the period in the Minnie auditorium.

That is ridiculous.

The rediculous part is that all the classes aren't at the same campus! This two campus stuff is a waste of time and resources.

I want to know more about this cafeteria that ostensibly does not produce meals.

They did that at GM when they added the cafeteria about 10 or 15 years ago. It's basically a really nice food storage/warming spot.

If the rest of things are any indication, there is no plan. They seem to be waiting until the last minute to determine many very fundamental things about this new building.

There is no "cooking" at any of the schools (except for the culinary classes). All hot meals are reheated factory produced meals. I'm assuming that is the case for most public schools in the country.

Nope. Many school districts in New Jersey cook meals on site—veggies, mashed potatoes, meat and veggie protein dishes, specials depending on cultural holidays, etc. The variety and quality are quite good depending on the district.

Here’s one very large suburban nyc district that cooks scrumptious meals in the school kitchens: https://www.instagram.com/somsdfoodservice?igsh=MTZpYnk5anVzYWNkZQ==

I believe they cook meals, but on the ACHS campus. Meals are then tricked over to other schools.
