Bsc decided wins are most important for the 2013 girls.

What does that mean? Looks like U12 coach is same as this year.

He’s a nut job but he gets results and some girls thrive under him. He’s now been with BSC three years. His behavior is widely known by the club and the 2012 and 2008 parents. People have differing opinions on him but enough of the top players parents like/tolerate it for him to stay. He is who he is.

Why does he get results? Are those results just winning games or also developing his players?

I am not a fan of his behavior and how he speaks to young women, and makes them feel like sh*t, but even I agree and think most would say he’s a good technical and tactical coach and that he both wins and develops players, if the player can respond to that environment.

Be prepared to be screamed at, a lot, especially during games and in front of your teammates nasty things said about you. That may work for some 10/11 year olds while others whither. And some parents deal with it and others don’t.

This sounds like trolling coming from an overly sensitive helicopter parent.

Not even close. Just talk to parents on 2008 or 2012 if you don’t believe me. Even his supporters will have plenty of stories. It works for some and not for others. It is 100% true and not trolling of numerous crying girls during and after practices and games, extreme tirades, an admission to 2008 girls that he has anger management problems and can’t control himself, and so on. All this is true. You can claim it’s not but it is.

Doesn’t mean his style doesn’t work for some and he has supporters. But facts are facts and if you’re around the BSC program, this is indisputable. He may be a great coach but his style is what it is. Everyone around the program knows it. It’s not trolling. And each parent and child needs to make decisions about what is best for them. It’s as simple as that. I’m not trying to tear SC down. It’s an individual decision of whether he works for your player.

Developmental “Soft” Coaches of 07s and 09s are bottom of table and unlikely to get many offers from top schools…

Not the poster, but I don't think it's overly sensitive for parents not to want a coach to say "f you" and "you are f'ing worthless" (countless more - and worse - examples available) to their 11-year-old child. You can develop an elite young player and be a demanding coach without cursing your head off at them and making them feel like they matter less than the dirt on your shoe. Hell, professional women's soccer teams and national teams have put this issue front and center as something that needs to change. SC is not the end-all, be-all of youth soccer and hopefully one day BSC moves on from him.

So this is an example of where I wish the people defamed on these boards would hire a public interest law firm to subpoena DCUM for the IP addresses of the people making posts like these and then sue them for defamation. Ya’ll think you are posting anonymously, but you’re not—read the FAQs for the board.

Well aware of the FAQs and not at all concerned about being “investigated” as these examples happened in full view of teammates and parents. But please, keep defending his behavior.

It is a shame that BSC has so few female coaches.

U13 boys have two MLS Next Coaches. Two teams or shared coaching?

Agree but far from unique to Bethesda.

is there a thread that lists notable female coaches in this area with clubs & team ages?

Troll much.

If you are at such a great club why are you obsessing on Bethesda?

Bethesda 08 is a chronic underperforming team compared to the talent they have recruited there.

Their coach has developed nothing and has underperformed.

How can you make young people feel like shyte and develop them positively simultaneously?

You have a problem with a team having more than one coach?

Relax sweetheart BSC is just the focus of this thread. No club is that great just commenting on how someone defends this behavior I would say the same for NM at Union, GF, and wherever else he collects a check

Phillip Gyau has traditionally had this team. He also is the head coach of Howard University, which makes him miss about half the games in the fall. Imagine the two coaches is a way of keeping someone in charge during those times instead of patchwork that has been done (not so well) in the past.
