Just witnessed the U11 coaches change their tune in regards to skilled players vs big & strong kick and run players. Some kids developed a big leg this season, they can hardly dribble though cones, but now they can kick the ball 30-40 yards! Guess who gets benched and who starts now. Small kids get benched, big kids start. The start of puberty is a mess, coaches will change their tune. Be wary of this... you have been warned. |
There's always one genius. They obviously meant qualities pertaining to technical skills and possession ball over kick & run |
| Maybe but I would be careful because there are certain soccer clubs, especially in the northern Virginia area that are spiteful. A high-level girl turned down an offer one year went back for a tryout next year and was not given an offer. I’ve heard too many stories like this in that club. |
Maybe the leadership decided that girl (or more likely her parents) were more high drama than they were willing to deal with |
| If a travel invite is declined, will it hurt chances of being accepted the next year? |
Undoubtably. Our club is so disorganized and there is so much shuffle, it's doubtful anything like that would be held against a potential customer (I mean player) a year later. |
| I've seen kids come back. My DD team has a some in the age group who left for FCV and have been coming to a practice every week for a while now. Most coaches were players once too, and they probably looked around too when they were kids. |
Most travel team kids already get their offers before tryouts. My kid was already told she's guaranteed a spot on the team next year as was several other kids on the team. |
What age? |
SYC?
|
As has been discussed in previous messages above, being "told" you have an offer is not the same as being given an offer. |
| Np. Same boat. My player is concerned her club will find out and be mad at her. Thoughts? |
|
We had offers given after the ID session.
