You can just major in Industrial Design at RISD.

UPenn has a BA in design through the Stuart Weitzman school, as a dual degree, available to any UPenn undergrad in Arts&sciences or the Engineering school. There is also a design minor that is much easier to add on.

UPenn is not an easier admission than Brown RISD or the others.

Rensselaer Poly has an art and design major that can be added to an engineering degree. RPI is much easier than the Ivy/MIT programs mentioned

Safeties: Iowa State and U Cincinnati both have strong design programs + engineering.
