Has NPR lost America’s trust?

I don’t listen to NPR much any more except for WWDTM, but my dad who is 75 has been complaining about NPR getting too woke since at least 1992 so I am not convinced that “complaining that npr is too woke now” isn’t just a male life phase. Male-identifying, I mean.

It's like you can envision the meeting where a bunch of young angry lesbians got all gleeful thinking they were sticking it to 'the man' and righting years of 'wrongs' by shunning baseball.

I think this is a weird fantasy you should keep to yourself.

Long time NPR listener who finds most of it incredibly tiresome now. I do, however, love the new show “In the Know,” that pokes fun at it.

The only people I’m aware of who complain about NPR being unlistenable or too woke or too fixated on grievance politics are all RWNJ’s and trumpers. So clearly a lot of people in this thread are giving themselves away.

I still like Fresh Air, This American Life and Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell me. It’s really just All Things Considered I find most irritating. Marketplace is ok, but getting worse.

This is the attitude that's driving people away from NPR.

I'm a true liberal and some NPR programming is too much for me. Far too biased for even me to handle. But, as another PP said, it's primarily All Things Considered. This American Life and other shows can be enjoyable.

Don’t forget all the old dads! Mine is liberal. But very mad about NPR. And parking apps.

PP, I think of you every time I hear their updates on the Caps and Nats and O's and Commanders. Their morning news reports the results of every game.

I'm sorry you're so bothered by the fact that they also include the Mystics and Spirit. You must have really imploded over the Caitlin Clark coverage.

The phenomenon whereby progressives immediately resort to ad hominem name calling (MAGA, Trumper, deplorable, etc.) when challenged with any criticism whatsoever is the precise dynamic that has driven NPR deeper into their partisan rabbit warren.

This. It's incredibly sad. And I don't mean that in a sarcastic way. It does make me sad because I think that it's impacting things like NPR that I used to like and value.

+1. I have been an NPR fan for years but can not stomach it since Covid.

Me too! their covid coverage was so over the top lockdown forever covid will kill everyone etc., I lost faith in them and interest.

I’m in this thread insulting my straight ticket democrat dad and you’re just ignoring me!

Puuuuleease! I am a proud lifelong Democrat, even attended the 1988 Democrat Convention in Atlanta and saw Bill Clinton make his debut. NPR is boring, naval-gazing comfort food for people wanting to hear their own views lovingly reaffirmed 24/7.
