| If your kid is good (not questioning you), I would get her NoCal coach to send a message to the NoVa coaches. It will get her in the front door much faster |
OP please come back and give us your opinion on DMV ECNL (or GA, if that's the road you end up picking). Some of us would LOVE insight from areas of the country outside this hot mess. Especially since California just turns out amazing soccer players from SoCal to NorCal... |
| OP here. Club coach recommended these three said they would give a coach a call if we needed any help (didn't think we would need it, IDK?). Husbands coworkers/friends had already suggested Fairfax Co. in VA to live, school will be figured out soon, likely private in DC. So just leaves the soccer club. Thanks all for the input, genuinely thankful for all the insights and amused by the doubters too. BTW CM is her position so who needs help in the middle? Only seen tape of McLean/Union team so far and they looked like they needed some help there compared to my DD's current team's speed of play. |
Bethesda isn't currently the strongest team in the area for 2010G. |
If based in Fairfax then FVU |
Why are you going to move to Fairfax Co. to send your kid into DC for highschool? Long commute for kid. |
Why is this any of your business?
|
Maybe the person moving here doesn't realize the problems that it creates. Also, for the OP, public schools here are much better than California. |
It is not even remotely unusual for people living in Fairfax County to send their kids to private school in DC. I know kids who live in Fairfax County, go to school in DC, and play GA/ECNL in Loudoun County. We all have different priorities. |
If this question was posed a few months ago, I would have agreed. But you now need to understand how many 2010 Union players you came from SYC are returning to SYC now that they have GA, how big the new roster will be after the forced marriage between McLean and Braddock Road / Vienna, the extent to which interclub politics affect roster and playing time decisions (there’s another thread on this if you can’t sleep), and how many McLean players are leaving the club to avoid all the chaos and uncertainty. In other words, you’re not joining this season’s team, you’re joining next season’s team, and those are potentially very different experiences. |
PP has no idea what’s going on with FVU. One current player is going to SYC…maybe two. FVU is gaining a few of Brave’s best players. They’re going to be a more competitive team than before. Natty worthy? Maybe not. But this years Union team just won Jeff Cup with this roster. Adding 3-4 to their top to mid end will only make this team better. |
|
trying to keep up, so in other words- the Best 2010 team is the current Union team for now, but the new Union will not compare because of all this?
If they are the only show in Fairfax doesnt that mean they are consolidating talent, that sounds like a power move to me |
You got one year for any of this to really matter, in that first year new team drama will kill any opportunities to compete for a "Natty" Lol. The next two years girls will be playing for "me" and college scouts, which if prior McLean team can demonstrate means flaming out in June, after not practcing for real since Feb. Last year of HS year in ECNL is just to stay in game shape for college ball. In short none of this matters, I have spoken! |
Could be. Just saying a lot has changed—lost their current partner club (who got their own GA program) and gained two new partner clubs (who got kicked out of ECNL)—so what you see today is not necessarily what you’ll get tomorrow. Better or worse depends on decisions currently being made. Lots of people here talking their own books, so good luck trying to figure out what to believe. |
Sounds like a serious shyte storm, thank you AVOID! |
