Selfishness vs. Selflessness. That is your answer to why we lose in everything soccer.

How did the YNT mess this camp up? Why no press release?

A press release for 13 year olds?

According to this forum, nobody should care about things like this. College soccer or bust.

lol

I mean this is such a long shot. Unless one of these big clubs is your home club for a few years and you physically develop early and the club director nominates you and the scout actually selects you, it is hard to care about. Then to go and get blown out by players from California and Texas at camp... it's tough going for sure! Pretty cool, but it's probably one of the longest-shot soccer groups to make for all of youth soccer in the whole country, possibly the world when you factor player-pool to selection rate.

Today the East scrimmaged the West. West won 7-1.

Where are you finding this info? Where is the roster?

There is no roster or press release like normal u14 call national camp because they tried something new (budget cuts) and got called out for it. They had a call with club directors and regional scouts admitting it was jacked up basically.

They typically run 60-80 kid regional camps that then feed to the national camp. They scraped that and did one camp but refer to it as national id center instead of call up since they pieced together regions instead of the top 80 overall.

In June they will try again and likely be what they deem top national 80 for call up’s.

For now we wait and see

Where are they getting their selections from for the June ? The same group of players as this week?

Most of the youth "development" coaches suck. That makes for the same level of selections for these teams. The only people who think theprocess works is the kids parent who is currently in the selection pool. Often they return to their clubs with a false sense of confidence which lasts for a while until reality sets in.

Hmm. Sounds like what they did with the 2008 birth year age group. Had a 60 player National ID Camp without any regional ID camps (just various 1 day regional ID centers). Covid probably also played a part.

Wonder if it is also about the even year age group (no U15 Concacaf tournament to prepare for, etc.)? The focus is often on the odd year kids, though there will now by a U17 WWC every year.

Obviously the west is doing something right. Either training or selecting or both. That score is too uneven not to point to a problem in the process somewhere.

We’ve been told it will be new and revisits meaning likely a large chuck returns maybe 50-60 and then 20-30 new players just rough guess all depends how players perform in Atlanta and while being scouted leading up to June camp.

Your kid isn’t good enough for this level. You should stop worrying about it. These types of events are for the best of the best of the best. Neither is mine.

West has 10x as many kids playing at the high levels and year-round soccer weather, families and parents are less focused on education than east coast
