Please post your unusual pediatric presentations of strep

Test for a carrier in the family. DD2's strep went away when DD1 was tested and treated (and eventually had her tonsils removed). When I was a kid, my stepfather was an asymptomatic carrier and the source of my reinfections. I also had my tonsils removed.

My now-10 year old only had strep once in her life -- at age 5 -- and I distinctly recall her behavior being absolutely nightmarish in the days leading up to the positive test. She did have a minor sore throat so that's why the doc tested.

- Once he was just hoarse for a couple days but DH tested positive so we took him to the pediatrician and it was also strep
- Once he just had an on and off fever for several days, no other symptoms
- not pediatric, but DH woke up one morning with a golf ball sized lymph node sticking out of his neck, no throat pain, fever, or any other symptoms
