So what?

Cold Spring Harbor in NY

What a cool major, OP! This is related to my field.

Like someone else said, don't forget NOAA Officer Corps.

And don't forget U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Duke Marine Lab.

U Delaware is a good program.

Also - really explore the difference between oceanography and marine biology. Oceanography is more of a graduate degree, in my experience. (ie, my masters).

Also consider engineering - ocean engineering is a hit field. Acoustics, too.

I have a couple of friends in my field who went to UNC-Willmington.

University of Miami - RSMAS is a great research program.

LSU and Alabama have some good options. Texas A&M.

University of New Hampshire has great undergrad and grad degrees and is in cooperation with NOAA.

University of Southern Mississippi at Stennis Space Center has grad programs in cooperation with the U.S. Navy, trains a lot of officers.

Every marine biologist or environmental scientist I know is broke AF. What planet are you on?

+1. Hate to say it, but this is the truth. Of the STEM fields, oceanography and environmental science are among the lowest paid ##61 & 66 out of 72). The marine scientists with jobs in their fields have graduate degrees, but they don't make much money.

No one is going into this field to get rich. But there are decently paying jobs, as PPs have said fed scale jobs are most common.

Anonymous wrote:My DS has started his search along the coast lines for undergraduate colleges that would cater to his interest of marine science and environmental science. We're hoping to get a good list of labs or research institutes that are closely tied to universities so that he can review specific opportunities.

Examples of this are:
Wave lab at University of Oregon
Woods Hole at MIT
VIMS at William and Mary
Scripps at UCSD

FYI if you live in Virginia there is no in-state option for a marine science undergraduate degree (VIMS is graduate level). But through the Academic Common Market you could get in-state tuition at University of South Carolina in that degree. They have the Baruch Marine Field Lab. https://sc.edu/study/colleges_schools/artsandsciences/baruch_institute/facilities/marine_field_lab/index.php
