| With the hotel situation this year, it seems like a nightmare trying to figure out if a team is “compliant” with the stay-to-play policy. |
Who gives flying f*****k? Stay where you want to stay. fK 'em. So tired of this soccer cartel. |
It's funny--we seem to have 'family' every single place there is an out of town game/tournament. lol |
Your manager picks the hotel, so blame them. I'm sure they picked what they thought was the best. |

Getting the hotels is by FAR the worst part of being a team manager. It’s not even close. Jeff Cup never has enough, they release accepted teams at different times, and if you’re not among the first people to know your team is in and get your block you end up with an unhappy team. Beyond that the distance to fields is an unknown when you’re picking so another reason for parents to be unhappy. Frankly it sucks and I would be all for someone taking over booking hotels.
Yes, though- it’s a total scam. More expensive than just directly booking rooms so the tournament and the housing service can make money. This is the only area where I’ve ever found hotel blocks costing more than regular rates. |

We're dealing with the same garbage for a sand soccer tournament later this spring in va beach. The tournament has contracts with certain hotels and you are forced to have to use them in order to play. Really frustrating. |
We do the Nassc Sand Soccer tournament in June every year. They never have cared where we stay, but the hotels rooms through the tournament site are cheaper than the rack rate. |
| Anyone on the inside know what the typical kick back is for these sort of arrangements? It doesn't seem to benefit the attendees at all in getting a group rate, so someone must be coming out ahead. |
Exactly! 100% |
It's called pay to stay for a reason. Of course it doesn't benefit the attendees |
