Brown is fairly close to 50-50 and, no, they are not compromising on the applicants they accept. They get over 50,000 apps for 1,750 spots. Accepted male applicants’ stats are actually higher than female. For whatever reason, Brown is extremely popular with female applicants. More women than men apply to college than men, in general. It’s a bit circular, but I think they like the relative gender balance at Brown. It is much harder to get into Brown as a male STEM concentrator, however. |
| We need provider men. So this is necessary. |
+1 My daughter had no desire to attend a majority female school. Balance is a good thing. |
Whatever may happen in college, people usually end up marrying within their own race.

The odds or good, but... |
Why is us this chart super specific for a just a few Asian nationalities? |
How many guys does she need? |
. What is a traditional college experience? Schools have been integrated for decades with multiple races going to the same schools? One where minorities weren't allowed or weren't selected or they kept their numbers really low. I think when I university is heavily one race other races don't apply to it. It becomes hard to attract them to the school because no one wants to be the only at the school. Diverse people care. High achieving ones even skip top schools for other schools due to the lack of diversity. When you are the majority you have the luxury to not care but when you are in the minority you care. What is a diverse person? Like split personalities? |

OP-
To actually answer your question, because there hasn’t been a lawsuit yet. Sex is a protected class like race so it is inconceivable to me that the Supreme Court could allow affirmative action on the basis of sex since it declared race-based affirmative action unconstitutional (though with this Court, you never know- consistency and principle are not its strong suit.) My guess is that a plaintiff hasn’t found strong enough evidence yet of sex-based admissions “scoring” data at a school yet, even though it clearly happens. |
| Thank you your answer from the prior post. I’m sure there is evidence but I assume most don’t care and actually agree with it. It is hard to balance genders when you get 2 or 3 times the application from one gender. They are doing something to try to get a 50/50 class. |
