Please recommend a light and perhaps funny book for book club

How old are you? One in a Millennial is a fun read and I think it would be fun to discuss in a book club.

The Guncle.

I have some questions for you, Rebecca Malakai

What?! That book was HEAVY and LONG.

Heavy? You can’t be thinking of the same book.

I loved that book

Killers of a Certain Age is a lot of fun

Suburban Dicks - also a lot of fun

Nothing To See Here is more literary than any of these - and also a lot of fun

Third-ing Nothing to See Here, or any other Kevin Wilson book.
I don’t think Eleanor Oliphant is as light as is often portrayed.

+1

I thought it was dark and actually I hated it. I'm fine with dislikeable characters but she was something else.

Agree with Remarkably bright creatures

Is The Bookish Life of Nina Hill too chicklit for book club?

Also enjoyed Where'd you go Bernadette?

Not light necessarily, but Born a Crime is excellent and a very fast read. I usually don’t do memoirs.

Definitely not Remarkably Bright Creatures. Boring and depressing until a final glimmer of hope.

Ms. Demeanor. Light and funny. My mom and MIL both read and loved it.

It is about an elderly lady who is up to no good. And no one suspects her. The book is short.

We read this in my book club last year and everyone loved it!

I don’t get it. Just read it and it fell very flat for me, and was so repetitive.

+1 Loved this book! There’s quite a bit of humor and it’s a quick read, but also know that the premise is a guy taking care of his best friend’s kids bc she passed away/her husband is in rehab and the main character’s partner also passed away.

Vera Wong's Unsolicited Advice for Murderers is exactly what you want.

Some of these suggestions are...not.

I didn’t find this all that light. Definitely has some charming/funny spots. But maybe medium, not light.

Maybe something like A Man Called Ove. That author is clever and fun.

This book made me cry so much!

How about the Finlay Donovan books - set in Fairfax, VA - I forget the first one, maybe Finlay Donovan is Killing It? Super light murder mystery.

Agree Finlay Donovan books.

I love Iona Iverson’s Guide to Commuting.

If you want a light mystery, Thus Was Adonis Murdered (or for some history, Daughter of Time).
