First Red Eye Flight

I woke up so refreshed. Loved getting in early, had my whole day ahead of me. I’d definitely do it again.

I wish they could literally knock the whole plane out

Good luck.

Agree, but the seats to Italy (ITA) killed me - no freaking padding - any tips for that?

I love the daytime flight to London, I SOOOO wish there were more flights like that. I cannot sleep on planes so red eyes to Europe wreck me.

I know - I'm very sad United stopped it from Dulles (still exists from Newark but less helpful for those in the DMV)

Not a great idea. I got a DVT after a red eye. Now I'm not allowed to sleep.

Just flew one this week. Plane less than half full (midweek in February), easy great flight.

This is the national airline of Italy, you know.

Do airlines allow seat cushions?

Lufthansa is a real airline and their economy seats on the 747 are terrible.

They are miserable. I stopped doing red eyes in my late 30s when I decided I was too old for that inconvenience. Nobody at my office flies red eyes anymore.

I wish they had more nonstop International flights during the day. Flying overnight is miserable.

They're full because people don't want to give up an entire day for the trip (back) to the East Coast.

If you can sleep easily, they're great. If, like me, you have a hard time sleeping on planes, they're miserable.

Most at my office don’t fly red eyes either, because the company is paying for the flight. If you are a family of four or more, and the fare difference adds up to a couple thousand, then it’s worth considering a red eye. If the price difference isn’t too much, I will choose an earlier flight from the west coast every time.
