Completely agree. Even though yes there are OLGC families that are part of Westwood (it’s literally in front of the school) I wouldn’t choose a school based on the “country club scene” that’s fairly universal in Northern Virginia and MD. Many schools here have families who belong to clubs simply for the social aspect, pool summers, and golf. You’ll see St. Luke’s families at River Bend and Congressional, Arlington school families at Washington Golf or Army Navy, and Our Lady of Hope families at Trump National, just to name a few. It’s more a reflection of the region than the culture of any one school.
What matters far more is the feel of the community itself. The best indicator is showing up: attend a parish or school event, go to the open house, meet the teachers, and most importantly talk to the parents. The parents who are warm, welcoming, and willing to chat are very likely the people you’ll actually be spending time with. |
Yes she’s wonderful! My daughter is in the preschool and we’ve been very happy. |
So great to hear! Even by the responses on here it seems like there are genuinely nice and helpful people at the school. |
There are very nice people! The nice thing it’s a bigger school so you will find your group just like your kids will find theirs |
