FWIW, my kid only took AP CS and had no related clubs or anything and was admitted as CS major to his targets. Had math through mulivar, and AP physics C, but also took APs in the full core every year. His essay filled in the passion part. |

High stats stem kid applying now to cs and other programs and plotting out what classes needed to double major, and how APs and HS classes would place DC in colleges where admitted. What DC is finding is that pretty much every school that requires MV for a major will require it in college, but placing out of other math classes is pretty standard with a 4-5 on AP test for BC Calc. My magnet kid will take test to get UMD credit for MV, so will get that credit if matriculates at UMD and may be able to use elsewhere to place out, but that’s a pretty unusual circumstance.
All that is to make the point that BC Calc will be fine and that MV in HS will just give you exposure when taking it again in college, when student might be ready for it. Senior year burnout is real. |
