My kid was accepted to SMCs but chose another program at PHS. In retrospect, we are very glad. The program is great for the right kid. I’m just saying, be careful and make sure it’s the right fit. Besides the kids we know who dropped out, we know several that burned out or got too many Bs and couldn’t get into places like UMD etc. SMCs is the toughest program and probably has overall the brightest kids but you have to do what’s best for yours. |

My kid was not a Math superstar at SMCS PHS, but he did quite well. He had supportive teachers and supportive cohort. For my kid it was not a pressure cooker. The parents are not toxic strivers like Blair parents are and so everything was sort of low key.
I was one of the parents who dropped and picked up my kid from school because of the distance. That was a tremendous time saver. |
Could you be any more condescending and racist? |
I fail to see the racism in the above. Zero comments about race. |
Projecting much?

"not toxic strivers like Blair"
Oh please. The poster is clearly white and is referring to the high immigrant population at Blair. It's clearly a racist dig. |
| It's disturbing how many of you claim to be upset about racism against other groups, but then pretend not to notice when people come on here and make anti-Asian or anti-immigrant remarks. Shame on all of you. |

Wow that’s quite a stretch…
BTW I’m an Asian (don’t call me names please.. I’m scared of some unhinged posters) |
If you were at the PHS open house last week, you won't be making this comment. The kids there were 70% mixed race, Asian, Indian. The PHS feeder has high immigrant population, too. |
| My DC is in magnet functions pathway at PHS. Challenging but only choose that pathway if only the kid is interested in math. He is strong in math but gets occasional Bs in tests/quizzes and most of those are NR - No retakes. |
| Most of the magnets at blair often take 2-3 maths a semester if possible come 11/12th grade or if you are Science-leanings 2-3 science courses etc… |
