Dropping off a kid when you can't see them enter their home

I’d do number 2 because it’s the polite thing for you to do. If the parent doesn’t want the kid in the building alone walking to the apartment they need to meet their child at the main door.

He's in 5th grade. I'd just make sure he has his key and has gotten in by himself before. Assuming both are yes, he can manage.

Why are we raising such helpless kids? 10 year olds are capable of getting into apartment buildings.

You think any 10 year old who is ever alone needs to have a cell phone?

How do you think people sister before cell phones?

(I say this as the mom of a 5th grade boy. He gets inside the house by himself off the school bus every day. I get home 30-40 mins later. He is fine. And he has no cell phone.)

OP I think you drive up to the front door. There has to be a way, I don’t think code allows and apartment building that can’t be accessed by occupied vehicles.

If the kid's mom didn't specify, and knows there's no easy way for you to see the kid going inside, I think it's fine to assume the kid is fine. As others have said, a school bus wouldn't wait. My kids are allowed to self-dismiss from school starting in 3rd grade and walk home, so I don't really see how a carpooling parent can be held to such a high standard as is being suggested by some nervous people on this thread.

None of these. I would do 5:

Text parent that you are sending Larlo up. Then keep your car in front while you visually confirm he gets into the main door. No need to send your kid in.
