Do your college aged kids travel with you?

Anonymous
We like to travel together, but scheduling around grad school, work and other commitments/plans with friends sometimes makes getting everybody together difficult (adult kids ages 23-26). This year we rented a beach house and everybody will be coming as well as their significant others. At this point it would be sort of strange to have a family vacation without the BF/GFs, but I know some families insist on only the core family and the kids agree. In our case, everybody gets along really well so the more the merrier - it is really fun traveling with adult children in their 20s and their SO's imo.

If my DH and I go for a multi-destination trip, sometimes our kids can only join us for a small segment of the trip and that is ok too. They know our iteniary for the year and they adjust their work accordingly. Of course, sometimes they cannot make it but if they do come with us it is free for them.

My college kids like to travel and never turn down a free trip. I do try to plan trips I know everyone will enjoy, but having two kids in college has not limited our travel with them. Their schedules are more limited, though, especially with summer jobs. Both our kids are at schools that have a full week off at Thanksgiving so that's a time we often travel. It's also less expensive to do international trips that week vs. the summer.
