Prince Harry to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at an awards gala at the Beverly Hilton!

Game changer? No.

I like these two but as someone who was married to a pilot who flew in two wars, this feels like a very dramatic stretch.

The “Living Legends of Aviation Hall of Fame” sounds akin to those poetry anthologies your parents would pay for your poem to be in.

This feels like a game changer for them. This could help their image overall.

Harry is not handsome and I don't know why he is considered a "living legend of aviation hall of fame" What a joke\

Don’t know about the living legend part but he is so handsome, balding and all. Lol

I certainly hope so, after the jokes that were made about them at the Golden Globes.

What were the jokes?

“It turns out Harry and Meghan Markle were still getting paid millions of dollars for doing absolutely nothing – and that’s just by Netflix,” (Jo Koy) told the crowd, who laughed in response. The camera zoomed in on the streaming service’s CEO, Ted Sarandos, after he cracked the joke. Both Harry and Meghan were not present at the ceremony."

Koy was addressing the Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, which was released in December 2022 to mixed reviews, and saw the pair discuss their decision to step back as working members of the royal family.

The comedian’s joke, branded “brutal” by viewers on social media, arrived after what is considered to have been a tumultuous year for the former royals, who faced several obstacles, both professionally and personally in 2023.

While Harry’s memoir Spare became a bestseller, their other ventures did not prove so successful. After signing a lucrative three-year deal with music streaming platform Spotify in 2022, worth a reported £18m, it was announced less than one year later that their podcast, titled Archetypes, had been dropped.

As part of the deal, the duo planned to host and produce numerous podcasts but Archetypes was not renewed for a second series and their deal was ended – with Spotify’s head of podcast innovation and monetisation Bill Simmons later calling the couple “grifters”."

Didn't he make a joke about the Crown and how real it was that Harry and Meghan called up to ask for money?

I know. My life has been immeasurably enriched by Harry and Meghan.

He is not a legend of aviation and it is so absurd to see this as anything other than a pay for award. That duo has really blown every opportunity over the past 4 years. I was entirely sympathetic towards them when they left the royal family but the only successful thing they’ve done is expose and slander and “recollect” about the royals. They’ve done nothing successful that isn’t profiting off their royal status. The car “chase” in NYC that was a non catastrophe really exposed them for what they are. I was glad the Spotify exec called them out as grifters.

I think this falls into the category of embarrassing

Yes!

"The comedian then landed another joke at the Sussexes’ expense, saying: “How great was Imelda Staunton in The Crown, wasn’t she amazing?

“The portrayal of the Queen was so good Prince Harry called her and asked her for money.”

Both funny jokes!

It is no joke. “The prince was the co-pilot gunner of an Apache helicopter during his second tour of Afghanistan and fired on the enemy, killing 25 Taliban fighters.“

And only Harry has done this?

+1 seriously

This. I hope they aren't thinking its a "gamechanger" because that would be pretty sad. Hopefully they just see it as a nice night out and a chance to hang out with some people that might be interesting.

I wonder if Sully in this Hall of Fame? He's the only living legend of aviation I can think of. I just saw part of the CNN special about that landing and the replay of the audio where the tower is telling him they have cleared a runway for him to return and he just says somehting like "Negative. We are landing in the Hudson." as calmly as you'd say "No, I'm gonna stop off a Safeway first."-- then he lands a passenger airplane in the Hudson! Perfectly! He's an aviation legend.

They're just socialites. Why are they trying to hard to be otherwise? Can't they just enjoy it?

John Travolta, I think has a runway in his backyard in which a 747 can land. he is a plane fanatic to put it mildly.

Travolta almost crashed a plane in DC and nearly collided with a commercial airliner.

“Controllers tried to direct a commercial flight into the airspace of Travolta’s jet in an attempt to guide him to safety using the larger plane’s lights. However, there was a close call when the two aircrafts converged on the radar and nearly collided. But the planes ultimately passed one another.”
